The river is never at rest: Yoruba art and culture The Yoruba nation of about 35 million people, with a vibrant civilisation dating back to the 9th century CE, is famous for its rich artistic traditions. Professor Rowland Abiodun (John C Newton Professor of the History of Art and Black Studies, Amherst College USA) will bring a selection of small sacred Yoruba objects and textiles from the collection of fellow scholar Ulli Beier to this lecture for discussion. He will also screen the short film New images by Frank Speed and Ulli Beier. |  | |
