POETRY READING in association with Intensely Dutch
Dutch-Australian poet Cornelis Vleeskens and independent curator Akky van Ogtrop

For Dutch artists of the post-war period, poetry and painting were closely linked arts. Join Cornelis Vleeskens and Akky van Ogtrop as they read poetry of the Intensely Dutch era in both Dutch and English, amongst the vibrant, visceral paintings in the exhibition space.

SPECIAL LECTURE in association with Ângela Ferreira & Narelle Jubelin
Dr Ann Stephen, University of Sydney

Narelle Jubelin & the looting of modernism
Despite successive efforts to mark the demise of modernism and its museums, some of the most interesting contemporary art returns to haunt the hallowed sites and ruins of 20th-century modernism.

Dr Ann Stephen

In recent projects that revisit, resurrect or reinvent modernism, such as The Great Divide by Narelle Jubelin and Ângela Ferreira, the art of the '60s has come to assume considerable significance. Dr Ann Stephen, senior curator, University of Sydney Art Gallery and Collection, will look at Jubelin's works in terms of how it re-engages with (or loots) modernism.
